Sunday, 5-31-09

Today was a full day of "scenic cruising" with no stops. Tomorrow we dock at Ketchikan where we have a 6-hr. wildlife cruise scheduled. It's been fairly cool with whitecaps today.

I had my coffee out on the balcony this morning but I was wrapped in our bedspread to do keep warm!

Last night we went to the casino. I did well on the penny slots while Aubrey played Texas Hold 'Em. I played in a slot tournament this afternoon and won 6th place out of 90 people--won a t-shirt.

Tonight was the first formal night. One of the photographers kept calling Aubrey "James Bond". This photo was taken by an unsuspecting passenger while we sneaked into the wedding chapel. We had several formal photos taken; maybe they will look better.

At 9:30PM, it's still bright outside, with sunrise tomorrow at 4:15AM. We had a short night of sleep last night because we feel like we need to keep busy during "daylight hours" to get our money's worth.

Hope all is well.

Day 1--Saturday, 5-30-09

Came on board about noon. Aubrey has "adventured" all over the ship. I have found the shops and casino. The photo is from the bow of the ship as we were leaving Vancouver. We are now sitting on our balcony watching snow-capped mountains drift by the ship. If it's not too cold tomorrow morning, I plan to have coffee on the balcony.

We signed up for "anytime dining" which means we have more freedom as to our dining companions. Tonight we had dinner with 2 couples, from California and from Mt. Pleasant, TX. Have seen one A&M cap so far, but no UT fans as of yet.

We had a great time in Vancouver. Went to Stanley Park, the Aquarium and took a bus tour of the city. Weather has been fantastic so far.

Not much news yet. More photos to come.

Love to all,

First-Time Bloggers

This site has been created so that we may stay in touch with everyone and post pics of our 18-day trip to Alaska which begins May 28. Everyone says it's easy to create a blog--we'll see about that. Since I've never been to Alaska or blogged, this may be more than I can handle. I'm hoping that we'll be able to make an entry every day.

There's nothing posted now except a photo of us at the top of the Empire State Building in December.

Stay tuned for more.
